Alerts & Current Conditions

Facility Updates/Closures as of 03/11/2024

  • Currently, we do not have any approved bounce house vendors on file and are not allowing bounce houses at our park facilities. We are working on getting this resolved and will post an update once they are allowed again.
  • Coastal Dunes:  PG&E will be temporarily interrupting electrical service March 13, 2024, 11:00 p.m. through March 14, 2024, 6:00 a.m.
  • Santa Margarita Lake:
    • Main launch ramp and White Oak launch ramp are open.
    • Marina store is open.
    • Jackass Canyon is closed to promote fish spawning.
    • Trails are open to hikers but closed to bikes and horses.
    • Dirt roads and River Road staging area are closed.
    • Osprey electrical has been shutoff until flooding is no loner imminent.
    • All campsites are open.
    • Boat-in sites are open to boats.
    • Mackey Point is open.
    • Backcountry campsites are open to overnight camping by boating or hiking.
  • Santa Margarita Community Park:
    • Restrooms are closed. Repairs to septic system are in progress.  Portable toilets are onsite until repairs are complete.
  • Lopez Lake is open for camping and day use.
    • Trails are open to hiking and biking but closed to equestrians.
    • A triathlon will take place at Lopez Lake 03/23/24.  Roads, marina and lake will be impacted. The main launch ramp will be closed for the day.
  • Dairy Creek:
    • Carts are restricted to “cart path only” until further notice.
  • Coastal Accessway Closures:
    • Cayucos:  El Sereno and 2698 Studio Drive accessways are closed due to storm damage.
    • Cambria:   Wedgewood accessway and Lampton Cliffs are closed due to storm damage.
    • Visitors should adhere to posted signage at all coastal areas.
  • Cayucos Vets Hall currently under construction with partial closure of parking lot.

Temporary Fire Restrictions Have Been Lifted

Temporary fire restrictions have been lifted at Lopez Lake, Santa Margarita Lake and El Chorro Campground.  However, restrictions may be put in place on an as needed basis due to weather conditions.
