Cuesta Canyon Park

Located on the east side of San Luis Obispo, the land on which Cuesta Canyon Park sits was presented to the County of San Luis Obispo on May 30, 1950 by William and Edith Rice Nuss in memory of her mother, Florence Coiner Rice.  Today, Cuesta Canyon Park is a favorite among locals and tourists alike.  You’ll find a large grass area with plenty of room for playing frisbee, picnicking or relaxing in the sun.  There is a sand pit volleyball court as well as a playground, horseshoe pits and 3 group barbeque areas.

As you enter the park, you will follow a path that leads to a beautiful footbridge spanning San Luis Creek.  In 1998 this bridge was donated by the Rotary Club of San Luis Obispo with the help of six Cal Poly Architectural Engineering students who completed the design, construction and installation.  From the bridge, you enter the group day-use area where plenty of company picnics, weddings, and special events have occurred.
