County Parks is again offering *FREE Lifeguard Training to those 15 years or older. This is an American Red Cross Lifeguard Training course. After successful completion participants will become certified in Lifeguarding, Title 22 Emergency Response/First Aid, and CPR for the Professional Rescuer.
*Note: The course fee (minus the $9 registration fee) will be refunded at the end of September as long as participants pass the course, are hired by and will have worked the entire summer at a North County Pool operated by County of San Luis Obispo Department of Parks and Recreation.
Monday – Thursday, April 2 – 5, 2018, 9:00am – 6:00pm
All training will take place at Templeton Pool. Located at 5th & Crocker in Templeton
- Minimum age is 15 years (by April 5, 2018 – course completion date)
- Must be able to swim 300 yards continuously demonstrating breath control and rhythmic breathing
- Tread water for 2 minutes using only the legs
- Swim 20 yards, surface dive to retrieve a submerged 10 lb object, and swim 20 yards with head above water holding object with both hands to return to the starting point
$184 (includes $9 non-refundable fee) course fee and Registration Form must be received by Wednesday, March 28, 5:00pm. Mail or walk-in your registration & payment to County of San Luis Obispo Parks & Recreation Department, 1144 Monterey Street, SLO, CA 93408, or FAX to 805.781.1102. Refunds will not be made for participants who do not pass the course, no-shows or any cancellations received after Wednesday, March 28, 2018.
